Donna Stevenson, 75, of Fort Hill Road was killed on April 24 at the rotary on South Street. Stevenson was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. Instead of following the roadway, her vehicle travelled straight through the center of the roundabout causing the vehicle to become airborne. The vehicle rolled over several times before stopping in the wetlands. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened at about 5:24 p.m. and part of South St., as well as the bypass, was closed until 9 p.m while police investigated the accident. This rotary has been the scene of 27 crashes since it opened in 2006. Nine of these crashes resulted in injuries. Stevenson’s death is believed to be the first fatality at the site.
