The Gorham Police Department has partnered with Galilee Baptist Church to provide assistance to community members during a crisis. For many years, Gorham and other area communities, have relied on the Trauma Intervention Program (TIPS) to provide services to people involved in crisis situations such as motor vehicle accidents, homicide, suicide, and domestic violence incidents.

TIPS is a group of highly trained volunteers who provide emotional and practical support to survivors of traumatic events and their families within the immediate aftermath of an event. The program accepts referrals through hospitals and community counseling services, and assists clients in finding resources to meet the needs of people involved in crisis situations.

Seen as the beginning of a possible expansion to TIPS, Galilee Baptist Church would like to offer support services to the community which would include crisis support, pastoral services and financial assistance with memorial services to help those who might not otherwise be able to access these services.

According to Pastor Mark Labacz of Galilee Baptist Church, the program will provide “a support net for families going through crisis.” For more information, contact Assistant Pastor Mark Labacz of the Galilee Baptist Church at mlabacz@galileebc.org.
