Lucas Roop, an incoming senior at Gorham High School, won the Maine Junior Amateur Golf Championships on August 2 at Val Halla Golf Club. Roop made par in all three playoff holes to hold off Tom Higgins of South Portland and capture the 16-18 division. Two weeks prior, Roop placed first in the junior division at the Major Championship at Mohegan Sun in CT.
