Christie Young has been hired as the Town’s new Human Resources Director, replacing long time Human Resources Director Jeri Sheldon, who resigned to take a position in Kennebunk.

Young’s goal is “to continue building on the strong foundation Jeri Sheldon established during her tenure to ensure that employees at all levels remain engaged and passionate about contributing their full potential towards serving the Gorham community.”

Young has worked in Human Resources for the past ten years starting at Irwin Tools in Gorham’s Industrial Park. She was subsequently the HR Generalist for the Town of Westbrook and for the past year worked for Cumberland County as its Employee Relations Manager.

In her spare time, Young, who grew up in Chelsea, Maine, now lives in Lyman, enjoys spending time outdoors. She recently purchased a stand up paddleboard and also enjoys canoeing, kayaking, disc golf, ball golf, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, reading and writing.
