The Gorham girls’ relay team of Meadow Fortier, Kate Tugman, Iris Kitchen, and Anna Slager (shown left to right) took first place and broke the state record in the 4×800 with a time of 9:43.02 on February 19 at USM. After winning, the girls were joined by Allison Chamberlain (above), who was a member of Scarborough’s 4×800 relay team that set the state record in 2006. They went on to compete at the New England Cham- pionships in Boston on March 3 where they placed 10th and broke the record once again with a time of 9:40.45. The team qualified for the New Balance Indoor Nationals which will be held at the historic Armory track in NYC on March 10.
