Wormell Farms, a combined butcher shop, bakery, and “Indoor farmers’ market” (as Gorham-raised baker Taylor Whitcomb describes it) opened at 29 School Street in downtown Gorham last month.

The store, which embodies the combined efforts of Windham’s Brendon Wormell and Raymond’s Taylor Whitcomb, sells just about any cut of local, antibiotic-free beef you can imagine: Skirt steaks, tenderloins, flank steaks, T-bones, ribeyes, porterhouses, sirloins, briskets, roasts, tips, ground chuck, pre-formed patties, stew-beef, and more! The beef comes directly from Brendon’s Wormell Farms in Cumberland.

Meat isn’t the only thing available though. Also for sale are fresh eggs and dog bones from the farm, baked goods including whoopie pies and cookies from Whitcomb’s own bakery, hot coffee from Carrabassett Coffee Company, and several locally sourced grocery items including honey, maple syrup, chicken, pork, ice cream, etc.

Wormell Farms also offers a CSA (community supported agriculture) program that allows community members to empower local farms while still getting all the prime cuts of meat that they want. Subscribers to the CSA program will receive the freshest, healthiest, and most environmentally-friendly beef delivered monthly, along with the knowledge that they’re helping a small business thrive in their own neighborhood. The farm, in return, gets a guarantee of security that allows them to better serve their customers and their families. Customers interested in the CSA should act quickly though because subscriptions go fast.

Visit the store during the following hours of operation: Thursdays through Mondays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Find Wormell Farms online at www.wormellfarms.com or on Instagram at @wormellfarms, or call (207) 807-0571.
