Village Elementary School is currently working on a Community Rock Project in which every student and staff member at Village is to paint a unique rock. The purpose of creating a community project is to have students leave a positive footprint in the school.

Each classroom read the book “Only One You,” by Linda Kranz. The positive message in the final pages of the book is “There is only one you in the great, big world…make it a better place.”

Village School thanks the Gorham community for donating supplies for their Community Rock Project.

The Gorham community donated books, art supplies, and rocks. O’Donal’s Nurseries graciously committed to donating weed barrier and gravel for the project.

Art teacher Mrs. Balcom allowed special art classes so that students from grades 2-5 could paint the rocks. Grades K-1 painted their rocks with Community Outreach Coordinator DaraLyn McColl in the Alternative Education Room.

The school will place the rocks along the first-grade hall in front of the school, hoping to make a mark with all of the individually painted rocks.
