The fourth and fifth graders at Village Elementary School recently participated in “JA Day,” a one-day presentation of Junior Achievement’s programs by volunteers from Junior Achievement of Maine and the Maine Branch of Acadia Insurance Company.

Junior Achievement’s (JA) mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed. Community volunteers are recruited and trained to work with students to deliver JA’s lessons and their own experience, serving as positive role models for the importance of education and critical life skills. This model allows JA to reach a whole school full of children.

Village School Principal Jodi Mezzanotte said, “We are grateful to Junior Achievement and Acadia Insurance for creating this multi-day experience for our students. By having local business leaders come into our classrooms and teach JA programming, it generates excitement and increases engagement which has endless benefits for our students and our staff.”

“Junior Achievement is grateful for the commitment and partnership from Acadia Insurance to deliver JA learning experiences to elementary students at Village Elementary,” said Michelle Anderson, Junior Achievement of Maine’s president and CEO.

“Thanks to the power of mentorship, students will learn firsthand from these professional volunteers who have life and work experience to share, helping to bridge education and the local workforce.”
