Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Gorham Memorial Post 10879 will join the Gorham community this Memorial Day in honoring the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.

Memorial Day remains one of the most solemn observances for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, as members reflect on the sacrifices made by fellow service members and ensure their legacy is never forgotten. In Gorham, Post 10879 plays an active role in local remembrance efforts, supporting ceremonies and community participation throughout the day.

“Memorial Day is about honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” said Quartermaster Jakob Bauder. “It’s important that we, as a community, come together to remember their service, reflect on the freedoms we enjoy, and ensure their legacy lives on for future generations.”

Residents are encouraged to attend Memorial Day observances and take time to recognize the significance of the holiday. These events provide an opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance, pay respects at local cemeteries, and honor those who served.

Gorham Memorial Post 10879 continues its mission year-round by supporting veterans and their families through outreach programs, community service, and participation in local events that promote patriotism and remembrance.

The post also welcomes eligible veterans in the Gorham area to become involved and continue the tradition of service beyond military life.
