The Gorham 12U All-Stars softball team reached the later stages of the 2026 Little League New England (East Region) Tournament in Bristol, Conn., finishing with a 3-2 record. The Gorham 12U Girls softball team started their state championship run at their home field, winning the District championship on July 4th weekend. According to the Gorham Little League Facebook page, the 12U girls managed to pull out a win in dramatic fashion, going into extra innings and knocking in four runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat CNY in the District 6 championship.
The neighbors of Robie Park even helped celebrate with some fireworks. The following week in Westbrook, the team competed for the state championship vs Massabesic. A 2-4 loss in championship game 1 forced game 2, and they sealed the deal with a 7-5 win over Massabesic, which punched their ticket to the Regional tournament. The team then traveled to Bristol, Conn. to compete in the Regional finals with a 10-2 record, two walk-off wins and three 1-run final scores.
According to the Portland Press Herald, standout players for the Gorham All-Stars this summer include Natalie McCurdy (P), the team’s ace pitcher, who threw all 12 grueling innings on the day of the state championship to seal the title. At the New England Regionals, she continued her dominance, notably throwing four scoreless innings with nine strikeouts in a 10-0 mercy-rule victory over Vermont.
Sophia Santiago (INF) was an exceptional offensive spark plug hitting out of the two-spot in the lineup, headlined by a spectacular regional performance where she drove in 6 runs. Karli Piacitelli (UTL), delivered high-impact offensive production during regional elimination games, notably going 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs against Vermont. Amelia Cote (UTIL) matched Piacitelli’s regional offensive burst, going 2-for-2 at the plate while driving in 2 runs and scoring twice.
Hannah Wilson, Hayden West, Maeve McDonald and Taylor Schools also made a big impact throughout the tournament.The girls took down Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire, all games won by 10 runs. A tough loss against Rhode Island on July 22 wrapped up the season for the 12U All Stars. They finished their run with a 16-4 overall record (3-2 in the Regional), an impressive 42 runs scored and having only allowed 19 runs during the East Regional tournament. Third in New England is a huge accomplishment.
