The Gorham Parks & Recreation Department’s Fall Youth Soccer program is officially underway, having kicked off the week of Sept. 8, 2026, and running through Oct. 24, 2026. The recreational program focuses on inclusive fun and skill development across divisions from kindergarten up to the fifth/sixth grade teams. Teams have practice one day a week and organized games are on Saturday mornings. The older grade levels have travel options on certain weekends, which gives them more exposure to what soccer games will be like in middle and high school. The league operates heavily on volunteer coaching, meaning exact practice schedules are decided by each individual team’s coach. 

Currently, there are approximately 440 kids participating in grades pre-K through 6 involved in various soccer programs, including Youth Fall Soccer, Kiddie Kickers, and Peewee Pros. Youth Sports Manager Liv Schwartz shared, “We had our first game day last weekend, and things are off to a great start so far! We’re very excited for another good season and grateful for all of our volunteer coaches making the program possible for our participants.” 

Schwartz added, “Some other exciting things we’ve got going on/coming up is the K-2 Flag Football program kicked off last week with the help of the GHS football team and will continue throughout the fall. And lastly our DISCover Ultimate Day with Maine Ultimate Frisbee will take place at GMS.” 

A reminder to keep your calendar updated, as sign-ups for specific programs take place during a window of time typically at least two weeks before any season begins so as to arrange teams.
