Congratulations to the new physical education teacher, Sam Lenson, who has been named the 2026 Maine AHPERD (American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance) Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year. Coach Lenson was previously a teacher at South Portland Middle School.

From building inclusive adaptive PE and unified basketball programs to inspiring all students to achieve their personal best, Coach Lenson embodies what it means to lead with heart, high energy and community spirit. We are fortunate to have Coach Lenson on our team at Gorham High School.
