AUGUSTA – Gorham state representatives have been named to the Legislature’s policy committees for the upcoming session. Rep. Kyle Bailey, D-Gorham, will serve on the Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement and Business Committee. Rep. Mo Terry, D-Gorham, will serve as the House chair of the Taxation Committee. “It is an honor to have been selected to serve as the House chair of the Taxation Committee. I look forward to working with my committee colleagues to craft tax policy that is fair and equitable,” said Rep. Terry. “The challenges before us are great, but I am dedicated to alleviating undue tax burden on Mainers without cutting funding for services that have proven to be even more essential in light of the pandemic.”
The Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement and Business Committee tackles legislation related to economic development, student debt relief, consumer protection, research and development and occupational licensing. As Maine navigates COVID-19, and the state’s economic recovery, this committee will play a pivotal role. The Taxation Committee oversees policy relating to tax policy, the Bureau of Revenue Services, property taxes, tax exemptions and credits, property valuation and assessment and municipal revenue sharing.
Bailey is serving his first term in the Maine House and represents part of Gorham and part of Scarborough. Terry is serving her third term in the Maine House and represents part of Gorham.
