GHS ’07 Grad, Jessica Ernest, plays Go-To-Hell Kitty as the revival of the Broadway hit “Chicago” celebrates its 25th year, holding the title of Longest Running American Musical. During its opening year in 1996, it won 6 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.

She joined the show in April 2017, which was interrupted by COVID and two years of change, difficulty and growth. Ernest said, “Being a part of Chicago on Broadway has been one of the great joys of my life. It is not lost on me just how special it is that I get to play a small part in the 25 year legacy of this incredible show night after night. Every time I step on stage, I hope to honor all of the artists who came before me and carry on the story for all those who will come after me,” She is also understudy and has played the role of female lead Roxie Hart.

Currently doing eight shows each week, Ernest’s career has also included many roles in regional theater. She’s been a Las Vegas Showgirl, has sung around the world on a cruise ship and has starred in the national tour of “The Producers”.

On Re-opening night, the special 25th anniversary performance featured a proclamation by the Mayor of NYC, appearances by former stars and Tony Award Winners Joel Grey, James Naughton and Bebe Neuwirth, a dedication to Choreographer Ann Reinking and a full marching band and drumline.
