Miller’s Market opening soon at 29 School Street.

There is a new market coming to town. In early November, Sam Smith plans on opening Miller’s Market, located at 29 School Street in the space next to Azul Tequila. The market is named for his two-year-old son, Miller. Smith is a graduate of UNH and has spent his career working in the food business, at sandwich shops, and as a food broker. In September he left his job to pursue his dream of opening his own market.

The market will have sandwiches, a butcher shop, and provisions. For sandwiches he plans to offer specialty sandwiches and expand the menu over time. Initially there will be four hot sandwiches, four cold sandwiches and one vegan offering. The butcher shop will include pork, sausage, steaks, chicken and marinated meats. Eventually he would like to add seafood.

Customers will be able to purchase these items in the quantity they choose. Smith recognizes that people enjoy being able to purchase just what they need, not what might be prepackaged. There will be a to-go cooler with prepared family style dinners. The market will also try to have as many local products as possible. Big Sky Bread and local produce will be featured when available. Catering services will also be available.

The market will be open seven days a week from 8:am to 8 pm. and will offer a small breakfast menu. Smith knows that it isn’t always easy to come inside for pickup, so for convenience, customers can order online and a member of the staff will bring the order to their car. Parking is available in front of the store or in the lot behind the store. There is limited seating inside, and outdoor seating on the porch in front of the market when the weather permits.

As a resident of Gorham, Sam Smith looks forward to offering a well-regarded local market that emphasizes quality food and hospitality.
