Fall Teams and players to watch for the Rams 2025 season:

Girls Soccer: Coach Jeanne Zarrilli
Coach Zarrilli is in her 23rd season coaching the Varsity Rams with a decorated career. This year the team has a mix of up-and-coming players along with senior leaders; Sawyer VonderHaar, Rylyn McInnis, Logan Doughty and Elle Hanley. McInnis is a playmaker who will continue to rack up a lot of assists with her one-touch strong crosses. Goal scoring players to watch are midfielder Adriana Russo (Jr.) and Freshman newbie Taylor Chadburn, attack. The backfield is solid with a lineup of Jackie Parenteau (Sr.), Elle Hanley (Sr.) and Kara Nygren (Jr.) and Lauren Chadburn (Fr., player to watch). Other key returners; Junior Anna Nichols and Senior goalie VonderHaar are back after VonderHaar missed time last season due to injury. Lydia Spear (now a sophomore) took over in goal. The team’s toughest components continue to be Scarborough, Windham, and Cheverus while Kennebunk and Sanford will be must-see games as well. The team kicked off their home-opener v. Cheverus on Sept. 4 with a big win. Russo scored unassisted and Taylor Chadburn got a great pass off the left wing to Logan Doughty for the 2-1 win over the Stags.

Boys Soccer: Coach Nick Viola
Tyler Olson (Senior midfielder) and Junior Antoine Dube (defense) will lead the way for the Rams this season, along with Senior forward Colby Jordan and Sophomore midfielder Moises Ntango. Coach Viola shared; “We are expecting to be competitive with the other top programs in Class A south. There were as many as ten teams last season who could have made a deep playoff run. No game will be easy.” The Rams began their season with a 7 p.m. home opener v. Westbrook on 9/4. Other “must-see” games for the Rams this season include: @ Portland Thursday (9/16) at 5 p.m., home vs. Falmouth Thursday (9/18) at 6 p.m., @ South Portland Tuesday (9/23) at 6:15 p.m., home vs. Deering Thursday (10/2) at 6 p.m., home vs. Windham on Thursday (10/9) at 6 p.m., home vs. Scarborough on Thursday (10/16) at 7 p.m.

Field Hockey: Rebecca Manson
Coach Manson-Rioux is in her 17th year at the helm for the Varsity team. The three stand-out senior captains this year include: Annabelle Collier Sr. 2026, Reece Leclerc Sr. 2026, Grace Cunningham Sr. 2026. Returning players include; Rose Wandell 2026 Sr., Juniors; Maia Downing, Eva Wandell, Sydney Quimby, Acadia Sylvia, and Hazel Dolley. According to Coach Manson Gorham field hockey is looking to be a top team in the SMAA again this season. Biddeford, Cheverus and Thornton Academy will be other challenging opponents in the SMAA. The home opener will be v. Biddeford Tuesday Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. Coach Manson is pivotal in connecting with her players and is fantastic, motivating them both on and off the field. They will continue to be a part of and support “near and dear” community causes. Coach added, “ We have our annual Mental Health Awareness game vs Windham at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23. We’d love to have support as we raise money for the local non-profit organization Community Action 4 Mental Health.” The field hockey program’s senior night and homecoming game will be Thursday Oct. 16 at 6 p.m.

Volleyball: Emma Tirrell
Head Coach Emma Tirrell (9th year coaching) has led the Rams to two consecutive State championships in ‘23 and ‘24. This year’s leaders include: Lauren Dunbar (SR), Addyson Simcock (SR), Emily Fluet (SR), Ava Devinney (SR), Abigail Buckelew (SR), Liana Edwards (JR). State leader player: Liana Edwards (JR, setter/RS hitter) – 2024 Gatorade POY, 240 assists, 105 digs, 35 aces. Coach Tirrell emphasized; “I am not exactly sure what to expect yet, but I always expect my players’ best efforts in reaching our goals of succeeding.” The strongest opponents this season for the volleyball program will most likely be; Cheverus, Falmouth, Scarborough, and Biddeford, and “must-see” home games are 10/7 v. Cheverus and 10/14 v. York.

Football: Coach Sam Morrison
Coach Morrison shared, “ We have a veteran crew with a good mix of juniors and sophomores, with three returning starters on the offensive line to go with a good group of skill position players. We will be very strong and athletic at each level of the defense.” Atticus Whitten LB/WR/K, is a two-time All-Conference player (So. and Jr. seasons) and has over 200 career tackles as an inside linebacker. Whitten impacts the game in all three phases. Coach added, “Whitten is a strong, quick, and smooth athlete who reads opposing offenses very well from the inside linebacker position. Last year he had 32 catches for 355 yards and 4 touchdowns plus 97 tackles with 8 for loss, two forced fumbles, 1 blocked kick and averaged 32 yards per punt to go with 7 extra points.” Returning starters include: Senior QB/DB #12 Garrett Poulin, already started 14 games at QB for the Rams. Poulin has over 1,800 career yards and 28 touchdowns. Senior OT/DE Lucas Graham is a four-year starter on the offensive line. Senior RB/SS Camden Martell is a three-year starter, and rounding out this starting roster is Junior Ryan Wheeler – OL/DL. Tough opponents this year will be; Falmouth, Kennebunk, Westbrook and Cheverus who all have strong programs with all-conference players on their rosters.

Cross Country: Coach Tanguay
Coach Tanguay is in his 17th year, with Lucy Knowlton in her first year.
This year’s Captains/leaders include; Zoe Dellinger, Senior; Owen Cummings, Junior; Harry Crider, Junior; Kevin Munyaneza (JR.). Coach Tanguay shared; “on the girls side, we return our top four runners in Zoe Dellinger, Winnie Moreland, Abigail McCrillis and Nara Holland. On the boys side, we return four of our top 5 runners in Owen Cummings, Harvey Crider, Harry Crider and Abe Palme.” Coach Tanguay added: “Both the girls and boys teams return many runners from last year and are hopeful that the work put in during the summer will pay off with more success in the postseason. The girls are looking to qualify as a team for the state championship and the boys have their eyes on fighting for a top position both in our league and potentially the state.” The Southern Maine Classic Invitational will be on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. until noon.

Golf: Coach Patrick Horgan
The golf team kicked off its regular season on Aug. 28 at Cape Arundel with a great start with a 13-0 win v. Kennebunk. Will Provost, a key player who competed in the Class A states last season, won big with a score of 37. The team improves to 3-0 with a win over Windham on September 4. Graham Staples and Charlie Sands both shot a score of 39.
