The Baxter Memorial Library presented a new type of program on April 16. Adult Services and programs director Nissa Flanagan developed the program that included the cooperation of the University of Southern Maine, the Greater Portland Metro Service, and the Portland Museum of Art.

The session included an introductory art appreciation lesson from USM art education faculty Sarah Warshaw and Mary Ledue-Bell. This was followed by Denise Beck, of the Greater Portland Metro, giving an overview of how the Husky bus works in Gorham as well as the overall Metro system.

After a short walk to the Gorham Metro bus stop the participants rode the Husky Line bus to Portland. From there they went to the Portland Museum of Art, with free admission and a museum educator who led a tour of the collection.

The group then returned to Gorham on the bus. The large number of participants felt that this program was a success and hoped that the library would do similar activities in the future.
