The Town’s Ordinance Committee met on Monday, Aug. 10, at the Gorham Municipal Center, with all three members present.
The committee continued to discuss a proposed ordinance to implement rent stabilization of mobile home parks of 100-plus units. The issue was opened for public comment at the meeting and two members of the public offered observations about the proposed ordinance.

After additional discussion, the committee agreed to bring the proposed ordinance to the full Town Council for further discussion and possible amendments. The committee also reviewed an amendment to Gorham’s Land Use and Development Code to restrict large-scale data centers. The proposed amendment would add a formal definition of “data center” to the Land Use Code but would not list it as a permitted use in any zoning district, effectively prohibiting large data centers town-wide. The committee passed a motion to send the proposed data center prohibition ordinance to the Town Council for review (3 Ayes).

The committee also addressed the issue of updating standards for sidewalks, and agreed to proceed with a review of the current standards and consider potential amendments to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety.
