The USM Department of Theatre has announced an extensive schedule of performances for the fall 2026 season, beginning with a musical play focused toward school-age audiences. “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” is a touring production in collaboration with the Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine. Running Sept. 25, 26 and 27, the show is directed by Danny Hutchins, with musical direction by Jeff Christmas.

The next production is part of the department’s student-directed series. “Ride the Cyclone” is described as a “darkly comedic, moving musical.” It is directed by Quintessa Marcotte and will be performed on Oct. 2, 3 and 4.

The major production of the season will be “The Real Inspector Hound,” a classic comedy whodunnit. It will be performed on Oct. 23, 24 and 25, and also on Oct. 30 and 31 and Nov. 1. The show is directed by Reba Askari.

“Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind” will be presented on Nov. 13, 14 and 15. Described as “neo-futurist,” the performance is billed as “30 plays in 60 minutes.” The show is directed by Rachel Price-Cooper.

USM Dance will perform their winter dance concert on Dec. 4 and 6; it is directed by Jessie Laurita-Spanglet.
