On Sept. 2, 2025, the Gorham Town Council held their monthly meeting. All seven members were present.
Two members of the public spoke regarding concerns about the quarry. They thanked the Council for initiating meetings between the town, members of the neighboring community and the owner of the quarry. They encouraged continued dust and explosion monitoring by the town.
The Council approved the referendum question for the November ballot from the school department to add some additional projects with the already approved funds. (7-0) These projects include the GHS track replacement, sprinkler and ADA bathroom upgrades to Narragansett School and Village School parking overlay and connector construction to Birch Lane and Great Falls School sidewalk and firelane repaving.
The council also approved a referendum question for capital expenditures for road culverts on Buck Street, Hurricane Road, Wilson Road and Wood Road. (7-0) Terry Deering, director of public works, explained that the culverts are actually small bridges and the Buck Street culvert washed out during a storm earlier in the year. The other bridges are also from the 1940’s and should be replaced as well.
The Town Council then approved the wardens and ward clerks for the November election. (7-0)

District 2: Carol Wyman, warden and Martha Towle, ward clerk
Central: Kim Getchell warden and Alida Landry, ward clerk
They also wanted to thank Kathy Corbett for her years of service with elections in Gorham as she moves out of Gorham.
The Council approved (7-0) the qualifying applications from the senior Property Tax Relief Program totaling $81,350. These applicants met certain residency and income requirements.
The council approved (7-0) and named seven members of the new Affordable Housing committee. Their meeting schedule will be determined by those committee members.The committee approved an amendment to the Land Use and Development Code to reduce and/or eliminate traffic generation requirements for accessory dwelling units on private ways.
The Committee approved the discontinuation of a contract zone at 61 County Road. Other contract zone requests in this area will be voted on in bulk at a later meeting.
