A short film, “Blueprint,” by GHS ’22 graduate Logan Files will premier at the 16th annual Maine Mayhem Film Festival on May 7. Files developed a love of films while watching movies with his dad. After graduation from GHS, he became more focused in pursuing cinematography as a career. “What began as a dream of mine, became a reality when I enrolled in Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Communications and New Media program,” he said. Files describes his film as a heartfelt time-travel which explores the consequences of creation and the cost of pushing away those closest to us. The film is full of misadventure and humor when a brilliant young inventor designs a time machine that has far more dangerous consequences than he anticipates. Files said, “The film is high energy…a wild ride from start to finish with an ending that will leave you smiling.” Written and directed by Files, it stars Mason Landre, Owen Bell-Snowman, and Paul Farley.
The Maine Mayhem Film Festival has been held in May and early June for the past 16 years. It showcases films of senior year students in the Communications and New Media program at SMCC. Founded in 2011 by instructor Corey Norman and student James Crocco, the festival has grown steadily over the years. This year’s event includes eight featured short films and over a dozen super-short films.
After Mayhem concludes, Files says that “Blueprint” will play in other festivals around the world throughout the rest of 2026. He looks ahead to future projects, including a feature film on the horizon.
Files’ parents are Robert and Lori Files. He would also like to acknowledge Mrs. Paul for her belief in him. “Catherine always goes out of her way to check on my art,” he said.
