The Town of Gorham officially launched its automated curbside trash and recycling collection service on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026. The automated service, partnered with the Town’s contractor, Casella, eliminates the Pay-As-You-Throw (P-A-Y-T) trash tag program. Residents are no longer required to purchase town-issued tags.

Every eligible residence was delivered two 65-gallon wheeled carts—one for household trash and one for single-sort recycling. If you have not received these carts, please reach out to Public Works at (207) 222-4950.

To accommodate the mechanical routes, Gorham expanded its collection schedule from a four-day week to a five-day week (Monday through Friday). Because many local routes have shifted, residents are urged to verify their designated pickup day using Casella’s “Recycle 101” app. All carts must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. Make sure to check the cart placement and route schedule to ensure proper collection at https://www.gorhammaine.gov/public-works-department/pages/trash-and-recycling

For residents wondering what to do with their old trash and recycling containers, free disposal is available at the Gorham Public Works Facility at 80 Huston Road. Residents can drop off old bins until Friday, Sept. 25, 2026.

The Fall Brush Drop-off days take place on select Saturdays in October at Public Works, allowing residents to dispose of brush free of charge. Two days are scheduled, Oct. 10 and 24, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
